ENOVIA PLM IS SOLUTION-OF-CHOICE FOR Australian Submarine Corps.

By: Imag Australia

Sydney. February 4 2008. Imag Australia Pty limited - the leading provider of solutions and services for Product Lifecycle Management in Aerospace and Defence within Australia, has announced that Australian Submarine Corps (AWD Alliance) has implemented the "One Version Of Truth" Dassault Systèmes' ENOVIA PLM solution.

Enovia provides a portfolio of modules that will be leveraged by ASC to provide Data and Content Management, Enterprise Collaboration, Configuration Management, Project Management and Product Data Management. In addition ASC will utilise the industry specific Aerospace and Defence accelerator from Dassault Systèmes to further complement the organisations Enterprise PLM footprint.

ASC is responsible for providing through life support (TLS) for the fleet of six Collins class submarines including their maintenance, design enhancements and overall support. It has committed to a multi-phase implementation of ENOVIA PLM over the next few years commencing with Document Management.

ENOVIA PLM will initially be used by 350 members of the Design and Engineering Group, with the user base potentially expanding to close to 1,000 personnel. The completed roll-out will involve data management, configuration management and project management over the life of the submarine program.

Data has been migrated from a number of systems at ASC into the one enterprise-wide platform. The company reports that with ENOVIA PLM providing them with a single product design and engineering repository they have been able to quickly achieve key goals including: improved functionality, business improvement, and replacement of multiple systems which in some cases were duplicating their functionality.

ENOVIA PLM Document Management encompasses functionality from initial draft creation through formal review and eventual issue of a document. It features such improvements as electronic approvals of documents, as opposed to requiring physical pen signatures, and a Verity full text search tool for all documentation stored within ENOVIA PLM.

ASC says that the shift from paper based processes to all-electronic has been carried out with a minimum of fuss.

Robyn Lloyd, the Managing Director of Imag Australia, says ENOVIA PLM will provide ASC with complete visibility of data and processes.

"ENOVIA PLM includes knowledge retention and reuse, document control and traceability, collaboration with suppliers and customers, management of project milestones and deliverables, and the management of IP assets. And, it is a scaleable solution which can be expanded in the future as required.

"ASC is the latest in a growing list of leading defence companies to adopt the ENOVIA PLM platform. The solution is already in use with the Collins Submarine Combat Systems Program Office (SMCSPO), Tenix land Division (now BAE Systems Australia Limited), Raytheon Naval Systems Division, Boeing and at Australian Aerospace.

"From the soon-to-retire F-111's, which are maintained by Boeing Australia, through to the Collins class submarines and the new ARH-90 Tiger helicopters, ENOVIA PLM is the information management and collaboration backbone of these complex operations, making sure that vital information is instantly accessible and able to be shared amongst the various stakeholders with ease", adds Ms Lloyd.

The ASC implementation was carried out by the ENOVIA PLM team at Imag Australia, and will continue to provide the ongoing End of Life product support required for long term defence programmes of work.
